Applications are now open to join the 2026 PREreview Champions Program!
As we wrap up another amazing year of reflections, actions, and collaborations spearheaded by a fantastic cohort of 2025 Champions (read the wrap-up blog here), we are ready and can’t be more excited to open up applications to recruit the next group of change makers and community leaders!
The PREreview Champions Program welcomes community members around the world who are familiar with our work and have collaborated or engaged with us in some capacity. We seek applicants from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about open preprint and dataset review and open scholarship, and who are ready to take the next step in sharing and expanding this work to empower researchers within their own communities. Please note that if you have already been a PREreview Champion, you are not eligible to apply for a second term.
Shared commitments for participation
As a PREreview Champion, you will join a community of peers dedicated to building a more open, equitable, and collaborative future for all researchers. We invite applicants who:
- Are already familiar with PREreview and aligned with our mission and values.
- Have experience inspiring or supporting others to adopt open and equitable scholarship practices.
- Are ready to engage fully in all training sessions and community activities.
- Are excited to lead at least one engagement activity during their time as a Champion.
- Have read and agree to uphold our Code of Conduct.
What we offer
As a PREreview Champion, you will receive:
- Care and support throughout the program and beyond, as part of a community that values mutual growth and connection.
- Training and resources to help you and your community engage in socially conscious, open peer review of research manuscripts.
- A safe and brave space to share experiences, exchange ideas, and learn together.
- A $500 USD honorarium* as a token of our gratitude for your time, care, and leadership within your community.
*Please note that we cannot make payments to all countries, and this may instead take the form of a gift voucher. To check in advance if your country is eligible to receive an honorarium, please contact us at community@prereview.org.
