Hello, Vanessa here, PREreview Head of Community. It’s warming up over here in the UK, but wherever in the world you are, I hope your July has got off to a bright start! We have lots to share in this month’s newsletter, including an opportunity to join our team, how we’d love your help to make PREreview more globally accessible, new collaborations, and more ways to get involved!

We're hiring
Join PREreview as our new Communications and Engagement Officer!
Are you an experienced and adept communicator who cares about driving transformational change in scholarly communications? Then consider joining our team!
The application deadline is July 21, with a preferred start date of October 1.

Making PREreview.org more inclusive and globally accessible
We have added our new language picker to PREreview.org! Now you can switch between Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and US English on our homepage and throughout our preprint review workflow. More pages will be available in these languages soon, and next year we’ll work to add translations of more languages to the site.
Check out our latest weeknote or click on one of the links below to register for upcoming office hours. We’ll be helping community members learn how to use Crowdin to help us suggest and review translations in Latin American Spanish (LA ES) and Brazilian Portuguese (BR PT) on PREreview.org.
- PREreview + Crowdin Office Hours 1 - 15 July 2025 - 9 AM ET / 13:00 UTC
- PREreview + Crowdin Office Hours 2 - 24 July 2025 - 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 16:00 UTC
You can also watch one of our CrowdIn demo videos in English, Latin American Spanish, or Brazilian Portuguese.

Peer Review ‘Modular Style’
What if peer review wasn’t a final hurdle, but an ongoing conversation?
We’ve partnered with Continuous Science Foundation to launch our “Peer Review, Modular Style” Working Group. We’re looking for curious, committed individuals to help shape what modular peer review could look like in practice. If you're open-minded, collaborative, and not afraid to challenge the status quo, we want you with us.
Time commitment: 2–3 hours per month (virtually)
What’s involved: Rolling up your sleeves, sharing ideas, and co-creating new models of trust, transparency, and reuse in peer review.
Sound like you? Apply to join us and help us build what’s next.

Join our next Live Review!
PREreview and JMIR Publications will be hosting our next Live Review event on July 25, 2025 at 15:00 UTC (check your local time here), where we will be reviewing:
'Phase-Space Dynamics Reveal Structured and Chaotic Motility in Human Sperm via DTW Clustering’ by Athanasia Sergounioti, Efstathios Alonaris, Dimitrios Rigas.
DOI: doi.org/10.1101/2025.05.13.653743
Read the preprint in advance, and register to join us. We look forward to seeing you there!
