Welcome back for another product update from PREreview.org!
What’s new at PREreview?
This week we deployed our AI declaration modal in our preprint review publication platform. Review authors will now be able to declare whether or not they used AI to generate new ideas for their review. We will not ask authors to disclose the use of AI for assistive purposes such as voice-to-text or translation or other kinds of linguistic editing. The big idea here is to help people understand whether or not AI was used to come up with any of the feedback within a PREreview.
We added request-a-review support for several new servers. Now any server with at least 1 published PREreview is supported in our request-a-review feature, as well. We will prioritize and support additional servers as users let us know if they’d like to review preprints on them.
Behind the scenes, we got a bit closer to launching upcoming projects for localization and translation of our site and for working with new audiences of expert reviewers.
Finally, check our blog this week for your invitation to our next round of community design sprints about dataset review. We’re excited to explore how PREreview might best develop a structured dataset review workflow as part of our efforts in 2025 to expand the types of early research outputs our users can review on PREreview.org.
What’s next?
As we begin some of the new work mentioned above and prepare to facilitate our next round of design sprints, we’ll begin experimenting with our webpage design to help newcomers better understand our work and make use of our platform, resources, and trainings. We’ll also iterate on some of the ways we highlight and filter for reviews, especially Live Reviews we facilitate for other organizations.
