This week the PREreview Team is very excited to welcome Vanessa Fairhurst as the new Community Manager! In this new role, Vanessa will lead the development and implementation of community engagement strategies to help us better understand and serve diverse research communities across the globe.

Vanessa joins PREreview after over 7 years of experience working within scholarly research and communications. Most recently, as Community Engagement Manager at Crossref, she supported publishers and researchers around the world, built a global ambassador team, and collaborated with others to ensure that scholarly research metadata is registered, linked, and distributed.

Vanessa will be working with the PREreview team and our collaborators at eLife to empower global research communities in helping shape the future of community-driven preprint review, creating opportunities for collaboration, co-creation, and knowledge sharing.

Daniela, PREreview Director, says,

We are starting a new chapter at PREreview, one in which we finally are building the team capacity to grow our impact, and more effectively and intentionally work towards our vision. Vanessa's experience working with research communities and publishing stakeholders around the world will be crucial to guide our approach to community engagement and resource development.

Vanessa says,

I have worked internationally with librarians, publishers, and others in the scholarly community to improve access, discovery, and re-use of research. This has nurtured in me a deep commitment to Open Scholarship. I am very excited to start my new role as Community Manager at PREreview, and I look forward to building on the amazing work done by the team so far to support researchers in conducting open peer review and working towards a more equitable, transparent, and collaborative research evaluation system.

Please join us in welcoming Vanessa to the open preprint review community!
