Core to PREreview's mission is increasing diversity and inclusion in scholarly peer review. We have built spaces for researchers to openly share their constructive rapid and full reviews of manuscript drafts published on preprint servers. And through our journal clubs, we have encouraged open global discussions around these same preprints to both involve more of the community voice in peer review and to provide early feedback for authors prior to formal journal-led review. Our intent through these avenues has always been to support and empower the voices of our fellow researchers who have historically been under-represented in scholarship and who are in the beginning stages of their research career.

In alignment with our mission, we are delighted to have first author and post-doctorate fellow, Damilola (Dammy) Pinheiro, PhD, join us for our second eLife + PREreview Preprint Journal Club. This month's preprint is Pinheiro's et al. preprint titled, 'Analysis of receptor-ligand pairings and distribution of myeloid subpopulations across the animal kingdom reveals neutrophil evolution was facilitated by colony-stimulating factors.'

Please bring your voice and/or your written feedback to the discussion on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 5pm BST. The Preprint Journal Club is meant to be lively collaborative discussion for the purpose of improving the manuscript for the research team. PREreview will facilitate and provide a safe and constructive space for this collaboration. Remember, the preprint review will be assigned a DOI and you will get credit for the review!
