What’s new at PREreview?

This week we facilitated our end-of-year community design sprints to gather feedback on everything we’ve accomplished in 2023 and to help us plan for 2024. Thank you to everyone who joined these workshops and all of our previous user research calls!

We’ve also implemented email verification for membership and publishing reviews on PREreview.org. If you’re a new user, you’ll be prompted to share your email with us and to verify it as part of the onboarding process. If you’re a returning user, you’ll be prompted to share your email with us and verify it the next time you publish a review.

We keep email addresses to contact users about any technical problems or bugs that come up related to their reviews, as well as to contact users as necessary as part of any code of conduct or competing interest investigations we conduct. PREreviewers have the choice to opt-in to more communications from us - like our newsletter - but this initial collection and verification of email addresses is just for the basics mentioned above.

We’re also bringing on more and more PREreview Clubs, advancing work on our request-a-review feature, further optimizing user profiles, and exploring how to write PREreviewers’ public PREreview activity to ORCID.

What’s next?

By the end of the year, we hope to launch our request-a-review feature and fully enable PREreview.org to write public review activity to users’ ORCID profiles. We’ll also start work to overhaul search and discovery on PREreview.org so it becomes easier and easier to find content, PREreviewers, and Clubs onsite.
